The "Four-Dimensional Calibration Scheme" for Belt Conveyor Deviation

Root Cause: The conveyor belt deviates from the centerline due to uneven stress, structural deviations, or eccentric material loading, accounting for over 60% of all conveyor system failures.
Solutions:
  1. Precise Fault Source Localization
    • Unloaded Operation Test: If deviation occurs, inspect the roller/ idler axis alignment and belt splices; if deviation happens only under loaded conditions, check the material feeding point.
    • Marking and Tracking Method: Mark the edge of the belt. If the deviation direction remains consistent, it indicates an axis misalignment of the rollers or idlers.
  2. Gradual Component-Specific Adjustment
    • Head Drive Pulley: Follow the principle of "adjust the side where deviation occurs". Loosen the bearing housing bolts on the deviated side, tilt the pulley axis toward the opposite direction of deviation by within 0.5° (adjust 5–10mm each time), and tighten the bolts after a 3–5 minute trial run.
    • Tail Bend Pulley: Adopt the logic of "adjust the opposite side of where deviation occurs". Fine-tune the bearing housing to tilt the pulley axis toward the deviation direction by 0.3°–0.5° to avoid exacerbating the deviation.
    • Middle Idler Group: For localized deviation, twist the idler bracket toward the opposite direction of deviation by 1°–2°; for full-length deviation, use a reference line to calibrate all idlers (the distance difference between both ends of any idler and the reference line shall be ≤ 5mm).
  3. Root-Cause Structural Optimization
    • Install automatic deviation correction devices (e.g., tapered self-aligning idlers). When belt deviation occurs, the idlers rotate automatically to guide the belt back to the centerline.
    • Optimize the material feeding point and install guide chutes to ensure centered material loading, thereby reducing the impact of eccentric loading.
